Early Childhood – Remote from these areas Burleigh, Morton, Grant and Sioux Early Childhood Licensing Specialist

Help ensure all children have greater access to those early childhood experiences that lay the foundation for lifelong health and well-being! ND Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking an Early Childhood Services Licensing Specialist to serve Burleigh, Morton, Grant and Sioux counties in North Dakota. This position follows a blended workplace model and must be located in one of the specified counties: Burleigh, Morton, Grant and Sioux

As an Early Childhood Licensing Specialist , you will license and register childcare facilities, as well as monitor compliance with state laws and administrative rules. You will conduct on-site visits, gather information to complete licensing requirements, document and respond to any childcare complaints or concerns, and provide technical assistance to childcare providers, parents, and other professionals working with early childhood services programs.

You’ll need to have a growth mindset, be open to innovation, demonstrate professional maturity, and possess a strong sense of collaboration. You must be results-focused, highly organized, able to manage your time and priorities effectively and have an eye for detail. Comfort with using software and applications, along with a willingness to learn new programs, is essential. Patience and the ability to communicate effectively with people of all backgrounds are also important.

To be considered for this position , you must have a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, elementary education, child development and family science, special education, social work, psychology, sociology, or human development.

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license.

About HHS’ Early Childhood Section: This section focuses on building greater access to quality early childhood experiences so all children ages 0-5 have the opportunity to realize their potential. By leveraging partnerships with public and private stakeholders, the section will build an integrated approach to providing quality early childhood experiences. The Section will administer licensing and certification, maintain a workforce registry, provide quality assurance, facilitate Best in Class program funding, collaborate with family support stakeholders, and manage block grant plans.

Location :

ND HHS utilizes a blended workplace model. This position must be based in one of the following counties: Burleigh, Morton, Grant and Sioux. counties in North Dakota.

Licensing Specialist will have access to a state fleet vehicle when available and prescheduled. Required trips falling within HHS guidelines may be eligible for meal reimbursement and lodging.
