RSR Human Service Zone partners with the Department of Health and Human Services to deliver exceptional human service programs to our community.

RSR is seeking an Child Protection Assessment Worker (39-41-5981) in our Child Welfare Unit.

Join our high performing child welfare unit at RSR Human Service Zone!  This position is responsible to provide safety assessment services to children and families.  Additionally, you will provide advocacy while promoting family stability, respecting diversity, and working to create and strengthen connections to community resources. We work to prevent abuse by providing education, resources, and support to parents, families, and community organization. You will coordinate with internal and external service providers, while ensuring timely and quality service provision.

To succeed in this position, you will have a passion for helping others and making a difference in our community. This position maintains responsibilities of a highly complex and sensitive nature and requires a high degree of knowledge, skills, and passion in child welfare. Work activities involve decision-making within parameters of approved policies and procedures, thorough, accurate and timely responses as well as accurate documentation that complies with State and Federal Regulations. This position also requires coordination with local service providers, law enforcement and legal entities, as well as emergency response planning. This role will require testifying at court proceedings. 

This position requires some afterhours/non-traditional working hours including on-call scheduling. Frequent travel throughout a 4-5 county area in southeastern North Dakota is required.

 

To be considered for this position, you must have a bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development and family science, behavioral health, or criminal justice. Plus, one of the following

Family Service Specialist III (SC7005): 

Two (2) years of professional work experience as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager. 

A master's degree may substitute for one (1) year of the work experience requirement. 

Family Services Specialist II (SC7004): 

One (1) year of professional work experience as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager. 

A master's degree in one of the above areas may substitute for the work experience requirement. 

Family Services Specialist I (SC7004): 

No work experience required.
